Program Components . . .Williamson County Extension Education Clubs: The Williamson County Extension Education Association is managed through the County Extension Office. Club members make new friends as they learn about topics that influence and impact their quality of life. Some of the topics include: Parenting & Child Development Clothing & Textiles Consumer Economics Financial Management Nutrition & Health Housing & Interior Design Members meet monthly for fun, fellowship, and education. Walk Across TexasWalk Across Texas is an eight week walking program for teams of eight people. It is not a walk-a-thon or an event to raise money. It is strictly an educational program from Texas Cooperative Extension to promote physical activity and motivate families to exercise. Walk Across Texas Kick-Off events will be conducted throughout the county during the fall.Wellness in Texas Volunteer ProgramWellness in Texas provides health and wellness programming throughout the county with the help of volunteers.Do Well Be Well with DiabetesDo Well, Be Well with Diabetes is an educational program for people with type 2 diabetes. The primary goal is to help participants learn how to manage their meal plan and self-care to maintain their blood glucose in the ranges recommended by the American Diabetes Association. The message is that, if you do well, you can be well with diabetes!Lunch & LearnLunch & Learn programs will be conducted on the second Friday of every month at the Williamson County Extension Office. Lunch is served for $5 and recipes are provided to participants. Programs featured target family wellness.4-H Kidz Biz IdeazWe want to help youth in our state realize that they too can start businesses that can provide an income to their families AND keep our communities strong by contributing to the economic well being of the town, region and state. Youth are the future business owners of Texas. Help youth to think, plan, analyze, and generate a future as a business owner!Better Living For TexansThe Better Living For Texans (BLT) provides food stamp recipients with education related to nutrition, stretching food dollars, and food safety.2005 WIC Nutrition and Breastfeeding Conference Children's Health Festival Healthy Holiday Recipes Winter Cookbook Spring Cookbook Summer Cookbook Fall Cookbook Savoring the Season Brown Bag Recipes Money Saving Meals Crockpot Recipes 5 A Day Media InvolvementMass media plays a key role to the success of the Family Consumer Science program.
